Spearfishing Key West to the Dry Tortugas
If you love to hunt and fish, are an adrenaline junkie, and don't mind literally having fun and getting wet doing it; then you're either an underwater hunter or spearfishing should become your new sport!! Combing the ancient forms of fishing and hunting provides the ultimate adventure of spearfishing; a heart racing thrill matched to non other!
Traditional fishing can get you whatever wants to bite, however when you spearfish, you are able to pick out your specific targeted dinner. It provides a highly selective form of fishing with a minimal amount of by-catch, and is one of the most eco friendly ways of fishing today.
Key West spearfishing offers some good opportunities for a nice catch, however the remote areas further out offer the most superb spearfishing conditions. Dry Tortugas spearfishing around the surrounding waters of the national park, and the Marquesas Keys area is where the hunt really heats up in our underwater playground here in the Florida Keys. With an average visibility of 80 to 100 plus feet, and average depths of 30 to 60 feet, we have hundreds of productive sites to choose from to suit both the novice and advanced underwater hunter. All of these waters are well stocked with tasty fish, including grouper, snapper, hogfish, cobia, and tunas to mention a few...all superb eating!!
And don't forget, lots of spiny lobstery you can hand hunt, (no spearing these critters here though). So whether you're an avid spearfisherman or a diver that has always wondered what the thrill of an underwater hunt would feel like, than spearfishing in Key West and the surrounding waters is certainly an adventure of a lifetime; and one you don't want to miss out on!
